Lindsay's Day Spa

Chuck took Cole out to have some one on one time, so I spent a few hours with just Aliyah. I wanted to do something special for her, so I decided to set up a little day spa at home. I turned on some Enya, lit candles and she had a relaxing massage from me. It lasted about 5 minutes, but then she said "Im tired" and looked pretty relaxed. Then we got on jammies and she wanted to watch Mickey Mouse. I think she ought to be happy after all that. I know I would be!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Mom: Hey Cole today is St. Patricks Day so you get to wear green to school, and anyone who doesnt wear green gets pinched!

Cole: (Bursts into tears)

Mom: Whats wrong?

Cole: Who is Patrick? I dont want to wear green, and I dont want people pinching me if I dont wear it!

Mom: Ok (crazy kid?)

Then Ali woke up...

Mom: Ali its St. Patricks Day and we get to wear green so we dont get pinched!

Ali: OKAY!!!!!!! (followed by a happy scream)

Then he went in his room and came out a few minutes later wearing green. I guess he changed his mind after seeing her get excited about it. They both got a little green gift and by the end of the day he was loving it.

Grandma and Grandpa

We had such a wonderful visit with my parents! They were able to come for 2 weeks and just hang out with us. With it still being cold this time of year, we didnt do too much outside. But it was nice to just relax. The kids love Grandma and Grandpa Z, and I sure enjoyed a break from trying to be Supermom. Its nice to have my parents cooking, helping with cleaning, and playing with the kids. My mom can play for hours and is so creative. My dad has so much patience and Ali can grab his hand and he will just follow her around. I think he played peek a boo for 30 minutes straight because she loved it so much. When they left I just cried the whole way home from the airport. But it was just tears of gratitude that I have them in my life. I have really focused on being grateful this year and whenever I feel down I just turn it around and find the positive. Family is so important and even though I live so far from them... I think the bonds can still be strong! So now its back to Supermom (ya right!)

A day of PLAY

Today I decided to dedicate the WHOLE day to Cole and Ali. I try to everyday of course... but I really wanted to just play with them. So we woke up and had pancakes, then I made a treasure hunt around the house and drew pictures of where the next clue was hiding... leading to a peice of candy for our treasure. Then Cole made one for me and his scribbles on paper were my clues. It was cute. Then we played in the snow and watched movies. It was fun to take a day off of normal mom stuff. No errands, no cleaning, nothing but the kids. I need to do this more often!

Whats cookin?

My friend made these really cute reversible aprons for Ali and I to match. I love how they turned out. Now I guess we need to go bake something!

Bath time

My kids literally played in the bath for an hour straight yesterday. They made mountains of bubbles pretending it was snow (not that they dont get enough of that in our backyard). They have quite the imagination and it was fun to just watch them.

My turn!

Lately Ali wants to be big... she loves getting her hair curled, nails painted, make-up (chapstick), etc. She doesnt want help with anything and wants to walk everywhere. The cutest thing she did was the other day....


Last time Cole got done with his little violin lesson Ali ran up to her dad and said "My turn" and she held the violin like a pro. So I guess she is starting really young!
